BarCamp Baltics: a 3 min video captures it better than 3000 words
Written on February 18, 2008
One thing that I learnt while promoting the concept of BarCamps in post-Soviet space is the great importance of somehow capturing its spirit and explaining it to those who have never been to one. You may think this is a trivial task: tell them the usual stuff found at barcamp.org and they'll get it, but far from it: no words can explain the feelings of cooperation and -- I'll be banal here -- volunteerism that are hard to miss while attending most of these unconferences, at least in the East.
This is why I am so happy that now I won't have to rely on words anymore: there is plenty of audio-visual material from the two previous BarCamps in Kyiv and Riga to show to people. The video below is a good example: bright, catchy, with good vibes-- how can you resist attending a BarCamp after watching this?
